Which one to install: Plugin or TC?

Plugin or TC?

The plugin is now deprecated. Please use the TC.

Feature parity

The TC is newer so has a few benefits of User Portfolio styling on mobile and responsiveness to sidebars.

Known Issue: Layout corrupts after 3 pages of scrolling when Chromium version < 96 (Chromium, Chrome, Edge). At the time of updating this text, the current Production versions of these browsers is 97. Please urge your users to update their browser. Discourse officially only supports the latest browsers of each brand, in any case.

There are two distinct setups:

  1. Plugin based one (this is now deprecated), please uninstall and install the TC.

OR :

  1. TC … with completely optional plugin sidecar that adds features that need API modification:
  • Theme Component https://github.com/merefield/discourse-topic-list-previews-theme
  • Add the sidecar plugin if you want more features:
    - git clone https://github.com/merefield/discourse-topic-previews.git -b "theme_sidecar"
    This adds:
    • ‘actions’ (bookmarking and liking from Topic List)
    • Thumbnail Picker in the Topic Meta Editor.
    • Suppresses links in excerpts to make them look a lot better
